SIGNA Sports United (SSU) North American Holding is firmly in growth mode.  In 2021, SSU entered the US market with the acquisitions of Tennis Express and Midwest Sports, two of the largest tennis platforms in the US. In December 2021, SIGNA Sports United successfully floated on to the New York Stock exchange and is now a publicly traded Company.  In February, we hired a seasoned industry leader and entrepreneur to lead the acceleration of our bike operations. Our growth has been propelled by acquiring new brands in leading sports businesses and scaling our current portfolio through our end-to-end e-commerce as-a-service solutions, connecting & enabling offline specialist retailers, and integrating with digital sports communities. Our tennis and bike teams along with the support of our Holding group, made up of Finance, Technology, and Human Resources, are leading SSU’s growth in the US. The part you’ll play

The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager, reporting to the Controller, will manage all activities relating to the AP function for SSU and its US business entities.  The AP Manager will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong accounts payable processes that ensure timely receipt and payment of vendor invoices, accurate record keeping, running of control reports, exhibiting leadership along with prior experience to optimize and improve existing processes, developing internal controls, and creating efficiencies through employee development and training.  This role will be the primary point of contact for all SSU US business entities regarding vendor invoices and payments.  The ideal candidate will be familiar with all accounting procedures and can independently manage daily financial transactions end to end.



  • Manage all activities relating to the Accounts Payable function, ensuring proper approvals and timely payments through review of cash disbursements and open payables management
  • Ensure proper procedures are in place for all aspects of vendor management, including controlled set up and maintenance of vendor files and vendor communications
  • Develop and maintain AP controls, policies and build scalable workflows that can be applied across expanding geographic footprint
  • Monitor and execute internal control procedures to ensure confidential records and company assets are adequately protected
  • Identify and present solutions for continuous process improvement, enhance internal controls and reporting
  • Lead and manage Accounts Payable staff providing support with any questions, problems or situations
  • Maintain accurate records and control reports
  • Interacting with leadership at all levels
  • Manage weekly and monthly reports and analysis
  • General Ledger account classification of AP invoice

What you’ll bring to the team

  • 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience, Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent years of experience
  • Proven track record in leading and motivating teams; must have prior supervising experience of at least a team of 3
  • Self-motivated; strong attention to detail
  • Experienced MS Office applications, especially Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Analytical skills along with the ability to create and present detailed reports to Senior Leadership
  • A track record of resolving payment inquiries and disputes that avoid escalations and negative impacts on business relationship
  • Ability to solve technical and operational accounting issues related to Accounts Payable
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain internal policies and procedures to ensure organizational compliance
  • Knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles and management principles
  • Understanding of accounts payable and disbursement best practices
  • Effective written and oral communication skill
