SIGNA Sports United (SSU) North American Holding is firmly in growth mode.  In 2021, SSU entered the US market with the acquisitions of Tennis Express and Midwest Sports, two of the largest tennis platforms in the US. In December 2021, SIGNA Sports United successfully floated on to the New York Stock exchange and is now a publicly traded Company.  In February, we hired a seasoned industry leader and entrepreneur to lead the acceleration of our bike operations. Our growth has been propelled by acquiring new brands in leading sports businesses and scaling our current portfolio through our end-to-end e-commerce as-a-service solutions, connecting & enabling offline specialist retailers, and integrating with digital sports communities.  Our tennis and bike teams along with the support of our Holding group, made up of Finance, Technology, and Human Resources, are leading SSU’s growth in the US. The part you’ll play

The Head of Technology for US will be expected to leverage prior knowledge and experience in technology project management principles and practices with an Agile development methodology to ensure small, large, and/or, complex, enterprise-level projects are implemented timely.  This role will have day-to-day responsibility for coordinating and leading technology projects across multiple business entities, including integrations into global systems in addition to managing and directing all technology related matters across all US businesses (i.e., IT service management, software implementation, infrastructure management, budget, IT security, etc.).  Enterprise Applications requiring technology support include order and fulfillment management, warehouse management, financial systems, and retail store systems. Strong leadership will be required to manage and organize resources, tasks, budgets, and deliverables so that projects are completed within their defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints.  The Head of Technology will manage both onshore and offshore resources and must possess an exceptional customer-facing presence, have a calm demeanor, possess high levels of confidence when interacting at all levels of the organization, and have a passion for building enterprise solutions in a startup environment.


  • Build strong relationships across become a trusted advisor for SSU US businesses while also ensuring strong relationships with our global IT partners
  • Work closely with Global CTO to ensure the US IT roadmap and migration strategy for applications and technology solutions are in alignment with SSU’s global strategy
  • Work with cross functional teams to define project scopes and schedules while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organizing and leading project status and working meetings; preparing and distributing progress reports; managing decisions, risks and issues; correcting deviations from plans; and performing delivery planning for assigned projects
  • Lead, monitor, and analyze the success of IT initiatives and projects
  • Lead all development projects to integrate new technologies into existing systems
  • Work with finance teams to ensure accurate budget management, ensuring financial controls are in place for accurate project forecasting and ensure contract resources adhere to prescribed process controls
  • Implement scalable internal technical solutions to make business more productive
  • Manage large scale integration projects using existing technology as well as third party SaaS products and onboard third-party software solutions; especially and including support of due diligence of potential M&A transactions followed by any post-merger integration technology projects
  • Leverage data to understand risk, impact, scope, and priorities of our business objectives, and enable the team to drive results
  • Build a team as the company scales and business demands increase, in short-term utilize on- or off-shore and/or contract resources

What you’ll bring to the team


  • Minimum of 7 years of experience leading technology teams, both internal and external, preferably with at least 4 years spent leading large technical and/or business programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent years of experience; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with SAP, NetSuite and Salesforce preferred
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills, able to work under deadlines in a changing environment, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence effectively, balancing between competing priorities while remaining flexible and creative
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work up, down and across organizational levels
  • Strong business acumen, operations, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to assess current practices, identify opportunities for improvement, build consensus and drive the implementation of related changes
  • Excellent executive presence and a track record of success working closely with the C-Suite
  • Experience delivering large multi-year initiatives within a mixed methodology environment (Waterfall and Agile).
  • Strong experience with Order Management, Warehouse Management, Financial and HR systems
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence; retail experience preferred, but not required
  • Highly adaptable, strong collaborator and influencer with the ability to drive change
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Financial acumen, primarily in budgeting/forecasting and project accounting
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office and MS Project
  • Entrepreneurial spirit - excited by the challenges that come along with working in a fast-paced startup environment
