SIGNA Sports United (SSU) North American Holding is firmly in growth mode.  In 2021, SSU entered the US market with the acquisitions of Tennis Express and Midwest Sports, two of the largest tennis platforms in the US. In December 2021, SIGNA Sports United successfully floated on to the New York Stock exchange and is now a publicly traded Company.  Our growth has been propelled by acquiring new Brands in leading sports businesses and scaling our current portfolio through our end-to-end e-commerce as-a-service solutions, connecting & enabling offline specialist retailers, and integrating with digital sports communities. 

What you will be responsible for

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer of US Racquet Sports, the Sr. Manager, Commercial Planning will play a key role by leading the financial strategy development for the US Tennis business. This role will be an essential partner to the CFO of the SSU North America Holding and to the Tennis category management team. The successful candidate will be data driven and will be expected to drive sales growth while maintaining profitability and will use historical trends to develop category level budget and work closely with the category management team to ensure accountability for meeting plans.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop strong relationships with category managers, learning the business performance from item level; collaborates to develop category-level strategy and subcategory/fine-line strategy and makes recommendations to enhance effectiveness
  • Drives discussion in Open to Buy (OTB) on category business drivers, opportunities, key action plans, and get-well dates. Owns markdown management
  • Creates monthly forecasts of all financial metrics inclusive of item level planning, annual operating plans, and financial line reviews with full item life cycle forecasting
  • Runs financial modeling to help category management partners make good decisions by providing input for business decisions by producing complex financial models that incorporate assumptions, expectations, and known risk
  • Conducts analysis to support strategic initiatives and provides input on actionable insights stemming from analysis
  • Evaluates and reviews business performance through analytics to understand what's working and not working, predict outcomes and generate insights
  • Understands customer behavior across channels, or within relevant channels (for example, demand trends, buying behaviors, consumption patterns around SKUs); Anticipates customer trends and influences customer demand through deep understanding of customer requirements and depth of category vision
  • Performs vendor analysis in preparation for negations
  • Communicate effectively to achieve leadership alignment and influence cross-functional stakeholders  

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or similar field or equivalent experience
  • 6 years’ experience in analytics, planning, business management, omni-channel merchandising, or related area
  • 6 year’s experience executing financial plans
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, time management, and influencing cross functionally
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to partner and challenge simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit - excited by the challenges that come along with building brands
